C.R.E.T.A. Rome is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition of the current artist in residence, Rebekah Sweda (USA). The artist will present the work created during her residency at CRETA Rome, via dei Delfini 17, Saturday 12 November from 18.

Attraverso la continua forma tradizionale delle anfore, la mostra personale di Rebekah Sweda, Working Through It, crea un senso di comunità con malinconia e speranza. Sweda vuole esplorare le complicate emozioni che circondano la comunità dopo la pandemia.
BIO
Rebekah Sweda si concentra sugli interventi sul tradizionale vaso di ceramica fatto al tornio. Lavora sia in porcellana che in gres, utilizzando tagli e fette per attivare lo spazio vuoto come materiale stesso. Rebekah Sweda ha conseguito una doppia laurea in Chimica e Arte presso la Calvin University nel 2018. Nel 2020 ha conseguito un MFA presso la Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Through the continued traditional amphorae form, Rebekah Sweda’s solo show, Working Through It, brings about a sense of community with melancholy and hope. Sweda wants to explore the complicated emotions around community post-pandemic.
BIO
Rebekah Sweda focuses on interventions to the traditional, wheel-thrown ceramic vessel. She works in both porcelain and stoneware, using cuts and slices to activate empty space as material itself. Rebekah Sweda received a dual degree in Chemistry and Art from Calvin University in 2018. She went on to receive an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2020.
